The Central Lakes Concert Association of Alexandria, MN was formed in 1983.  The first season included four concerts, and it was decided to have reciprocity with the Sauk Centre Concert Association.   Later the following year, reciprocity was expanded to include Ortonville/Milbank, and eventually Fergus Falls and Wadena were added.  Today members can attend all of the concerts in Alexandria, plus all of the concerts in 4 nearby communities for a single low price of $60 per member.

Within the year, the official name for the organization was approved, that being the CENTRAL LAKES CONCERT ASSOCIATION. Success was immediate!  There were more than 1,000 student and adult members the first year, with a budget of $15,000.  In the years since that fine start the association has grown to around 1500 members and a budget of nearly $40,000.

This tremendous growth in budget was accomplished without a significant increase in members thanks to the introduction of the Patron Program. It included 4 sponsors, one for each program.  That has developed into what we now call our Financial Support Program which today includes well over 100 participants.  Thanks to this program the Central Lakes Concert Association can offer what the founders desired – “an expanded program of quality concerts, affordable to the general public.”
